Hardin County Imagination Library

"A gift to the community.. from the community"

The Hardin County Imagination Library needs your support in helping local children become lifelong readers. The Imagination Library is designed to engage children in reading and learning before they ever enter a classroom. By providing free hard-back books to all preschool children between the ages of 0-5, the program promotes literacy and future academic success.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

All registered preschool children receive one free book every month until his/her fifth birthday. Registration forms are available at the United Way, Hardin Co. Family YMCA, all local Hardin Co. libraries, and the OSU Extension office.

  • Books are mailed directly to the child’s home in his/her name.
  • A panel of child development specialist, librarians, and publishers carefully selects all books.
  • Books are selected based on age-appropriateness and development of positive themes such as promotion of self-esteem and confidence, regard for diversity and appreciation of art.
