Services: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hardin County is an affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the nation's premier mentoring organization.
Big Brothers Big Sisters offers volunteer opportunities in community-based and school-based programs.
Volunteers in the community-based program are matched with children in 1-to-1 relationships and spend 1-3 hours together each week in activities of their choosing.
Volunteers in the school-based program are matched with children in 1-to-1 relationships but meet the children for one hour a week (or more, if you can) at their schools -- during the school day or after school, depending upon your schedule. Volunteers and children participate in tutoring and other activities directed and supervised by our staff. Plenty of time is provided for the mentor and child to interact and talk.
All volunteers are trained by our professional staff and support is provided throughout the life of each match.
Eligibility: Most of the children in this program are between the ages of 6 and 14 although younger and older children are accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Remarks: Most people do not know about our organization until the need arises in their own family. We are pleased to have a chapter in Hardin County and want to use every avenue to let the community know we are here.
